Edie's Big Birthday Bash!

My very dear friend Edie turned 50 last week. I hosted a huge Birthday party for her. The theme was Island Tiki Luau, and the place was all decked out. We built a Tiki bar and made a huge batch of Jungle Juice to sit alongside the keg of beer. The live band was rockin the house and as a bonus we happened to have some talented locals attending the party who were happy to step up to the mic during band breaks. My son, Mackenzie played his beat box harmonica routine, our friend Geno sang a tune or two, and a gal who's name I cannot remember graced us with her beautiful voice and guitar playing. Many thanks to those talented folks. About 60 people and 10 dogs came round to celebrate with us. Carl's dog, Miller, accompanied Mackenzie's beat box music with pitch perfect howling. We also had three very cute toddlers in attendance who very much enjoyed the play structure, riding toys and beach balls. The grilling station turned out many pounds of delicious meat products and the variety of salads and side dishes was mouth watering. There were numerous walks down to the river, though we never did get around to doing the ducky derby. We were too busy drinking, eating and dancing. Jay Collins won the prize for "loudest" shirt and although we limboed plenty, I realize now that we forgot to give out the prize for lowest limbo. Some folks camped at the river and some pitched their tents in the yard and we finally hit the sack around 1:30 a.m. Many Thanks to the many hands that helped plan, set up and clean up for this event. It was a most wonderful time. Party pictures are, as usual, on my web album. View them here:
