Ochoco Mountains in the winter

We love visiting our friends Gary, Susie and Bob at their mountain home. This trip we brought along a couple of friends, Judi and Mike.

Quads are so much fun in the snow. A couple years ago Gary challenged me to climb this particular hill and I was too scared to try, especially after I watched him try and fail at it. So when Mike and Judi and I rode to that spot I challenged Mike to do the hill.

Naturally, he did a great job of it. Here is video of Mike making it to the top......

Since Mike has a big, powerful machine Judi and I decided to try it on his quad. Here is Judi....

And then it was my turn......

A great time was had by all! Thanks again Gary and Susie for putting us up in style. Love ya.

Have a fun and safe winter time everyone!

Summer has finally arrived

Wow it's been a long time since I posted anything. I've been very busy with my grandson and work. I've got some fun trips planned for this summer. I'll be leaving soon for a quick trip to visit friends in Northern California. We plan to spend a day at Mt Lassen Volcanic National Monument. Then we meet up with some other friends to spend four days on their houseboat at Lake Shasta. Really looking forward to that.

I will have to quickly do laundry and pack up again for a girls trip to Whistler BC. I have only been there in the Winter time so am looking forward to a different kind of Whistler adventure.

And as soon as I get back from Whistler I will re-pack for a very different kind of trip. Taking the family camping near Hugh Creek in the Mount Hood National Forest.

This Fall my daughter and I plan to take a road trip South on Hwy 101, through the redwood forest. We plan to spend a night at Yosemite and then continue on down past L.A. to Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernadino Mountains to visit family for a few days.

Whew! I'm tired just thinking of it all. I will try to keep up with this blog more frequently.

Happy Summer everyone!

Swimming Lessons

Cole had his first swimming lesson last night. We had so much fun!

Videos are coming soon......

Las Vegas

Hi folks. It's been awhile since I blogged. I recently returned from my first trip to Las Vegas. What a crazy place. So busy and crowded. We planned a series of road trips to escape the craziness and boy am I glad we did.

We had a nice 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo a couple miles off strip. It was perfect. Quiet and near empty. We pretty much had the pool and hot tub area all to ourselves. There was also a putting green which we enjoyed.

We walked part of the strip on our second night and found ourselves in the throng of people waiting to see the Sirens of TI show outside Treasure Island. We pushed our way in to the casino and came upon a fun bar called Kahunaville. There were not very many patrons as everybody was lined up to see Sirens so we found a seat at the bar and ordered huge margaritas. Shortly thereafter a man with a microphone started gearing everybody up for free drinks. Whichever side of the bar was whooping and hollering the loudest would get free drinks. Our bartender was performing many crazy tricks and our side won. It was a really good time. Here is some video of the grand finale from our bartender.

By far, my very favorite thing on the strip was the volcano at the mirage. I saw it three times and I managed to get some video which you can see here.

We took road trips to Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead, Hoover dam and Valley of Fire state park. All beautiful. My favorite was Valley of fire. Gorgeous red rock whipped into lovely shapes by wind and water.
